| All 2005 expys will have the 301 hp engine. Ford is also dropping the 4.6. Ford is trying to catch up with everyone else with 300+ hp. The Limited version is a keeper and I wish I was in the market to move up to the 2005. | |
| I have an 04 EXPY EB with every option except the DVD,NAV and middle row captains chairs. It is a great SUV, better than any others and I looked at them all. Had it for a month at this point. While the 05 may have the 301HP, the 260 HP in the 04 is more than sufficient for my purpose. The 05 gas mileage may not be as good as the 04. We'll see... The difference between the Limited and EB is mostly Color combos, standard equipment. The EB can be equipped with all the options and sparkle with the Fire Red paint. | |

I have owned my 04 Expedition for a couple of months now and have "knock on wood" had no problems! My only complaint would be that gas is over $2.00 a gallon, but I knew what kind of gas mileage I would be getting when I went from a minivan to the Expedition |

| I have one of those in the Eddie Bauer trim that lives and parks across the street from me. They are sharp... | |

Greetings everyone, I was faced with the choice of a 2004 or 2005 Expedition and in the process the 260 hp, or the 300 hp engine. I ended up going with the 04 for a couple of reasons. 1. A late build 04 is likely to have fewer bugs than an early build 05 with tweaks and changes. 2. The Limited Editions for 05 are likely an excuse for a price bump to bolster Fords bottom line. Can't blame them for this, I just don't want to exceed 40K. 3. The 3v 5.4 IS NOT what you would expect. The older motors have a better acceleration off the line without question. Ask the people who own them - the new F-150 owners who've driven and owned the older 260hp version. Only when the new motor gets into the upper RPMs does the extra 40hp become apparent. This may have something to do with the new throttle-by-wire system, I don't know. I DO know that you're buying a 3 ton SUV - NOT a sports car here people. The older motor will get the job done without question - and in some cases do a better job than the new version. -TG |

Let me weigh in here on this old motor as well. The 260hp 5.4 Triton was the engine in my 99 Navigator also. About a minute and a half after I bought mine, they brought out the 5.4L Intech engine, with 4V DOHC, but I missed it. I never lacked for power, even towing, even towing up long grades and hills. Never. And that engine performed flawlessly for the 65,000 miles that I owned the car. I loved that engine. Frankly, I don't notice the increased power much. This is an equally good engine, and maybe under load, it would be stronger. But the 260hp engine was always plenty for me too. |

| My lease is up on my '03 Expy, so I ordered an '05 Eddie Bauer 4X4 with all options except for second row captains chairs. The only reason I didn't go with the limited is the monotone paint scheme. I still like the two tone, just looks a little nicer. I ordered it on the 24th of May. I have a vehicle order confirmation but no build date yet. No pricing has been released yet, but dealer guaranteed me invoice price plus any available rebates. I've been told to expect delivery after the first of August. | |
|
It'll be a miracle if you take delivery in August. You should plan on delivery some time in the first half of September. Job 1 for 05 Expeditions is August 2. The order for my 04 took about 8 weeks and they tell you to plan on 6 to 8. You can't count on 6 to 8 starting until job 1 for the 05 production run I would guess. Maybe this is a question for your dealer. Also, I'd want the invoice - incentives in writing. Unless you have it in black and white, it doesn't matter what they said. |

Replying to: nvbanker (May 19, 2004 6:03 pm) What would one expect to pay for pad replacement with ceramic Raysbestos, or as they probably call it here, Bubba-sbestos or my-other-brother-ray's-doing-asbestos-he-can? Welcome back to gas, oil, heck even anti-freeze as I'm not fluid prejudice. |
