#113 of 6387 Correct Mobil 1 Oil Filter for 2000 5.3L by going2wait41 Dec 10, 2000 (1:46 am)
I ordered a Mobil 1 oil filter on-line for my 2000 Tahoe 5.3L and received a M1-201. Before I installed it, I did some checking and it looks as if the correct Mobil 1 oil filter for the 2000 Tahoe is a M1-206. Can anyone confirm which is the correct filter? Thanks, Dave

Not sure we can assign all of the wiggle to GM saving a few bucks. These are in a very vulnerable area. With these flexible mounts you can push mine a few inches and they spring back to where they started. Probably would be fixing a lot of bent mounts if they were rigid.

Hope things are getting better for ya! If you could and it's not too much trouble, could you look up the torque spec for the body mounts? I just installed a set of running boards and had to place a running board mount on the body mount. I cranked the screw down but not too much as I didn't have the spec. thanks! Campo57

I to had a key cut at homedepot for $1.50 and it worked fine for 50 miles or so. It was explained to me that as long as you use a key that fits and starts the truck there is no problem, Its when someone tries to use a different key or pull the ignition switch is when the fuel will be cut off. There is no chip in these keys like the older models, evering thing is in the ignition switch. Someone awhile ago posted a site that explains this, and shows it in detal. So if the dealer is charging let say $25 for a key your being ripped off. If any one tries to hot wire chances are that they will not be able to start the truck because they also now have to engage the fuel pump which is a separate circuit in the ignition switch. WE HAVE HAD OUR NEW 2001 YUKON NOW ABOUT 2 WEEKS IT IS REALLY A NICE TRUCK. THE ONLY THING AT THIS POINT THAT WE DO NOT LIKE ARE THE RUNNING BOARDS. THE BOARDS ARE WIDE ENOUGH BUT THE BODY BULGES OUT OVER HALF OF THE BOARD SO THAT WHEN EXITING A SHORT PERSON (MY WIFE 5'0") WHO HAS TO USE THE RUNNING BOARDS MUST BE REALLY CAREFUL NOT TO SLIP. I AM THINKING THAT I MIGHT TRY TO FINE A WIDER RUNNING BOARD IF ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE.               CWAYNE

I am interested in a 2001 Yukon SLE at a local dealer. It's equipped with pretty much what I needed except two items that I don't quite understand: 1) it comes with 3.73 rear axle ratio (option GT4) 2) it has P245/75R16-109S ALS WOL tires (option QNL) Could anyone shed some light on these two items? I mainly looking for maximum riding comfort on pavement, no plan doing towing and off-road driving. Would 4.10 ratio (option GT5) and different tires suit my needs better? Thanks for your help.

I believe the 3.73 is the standard ratio for the Suburban and the comparable Yukon. Supposedly it will give you better gas mileage than the 4.10 ratio. We have a 2000 Tahoe which I ordered with the standard 3.42 ratio rearend. We get 18-19 mpg on the highway. Things don't always work as one would initially think though. Years ago we had a Buick with a 350 engine. Our neighbor had an identical Buick except they had the larger Olds engine in their unit. They got better mileage. Orville

I put a few black nonslip strips on the outer edge of the running boards on our 2000 Tahoe. The strips are 3/4 inch wide. If you choose this option, you will probably have to occasionally replace them. The stepping on them and twisting of the foot cause them to loosen. Parts of the car wash mitt stick to them but the pressure of the water hose will remove the residue. Orville

Campo57--- Don't know if Don434 got back with you on the torque specs, but I have set of shop manuals for my '00 YukonXL and the specs are as follows: Body mounting bolt - 63 ft lbs, running board bracket & end cap bolts -- 18 ft lbs. Let me know if you need anything additional.. Brad

Thanks for a quick answer for our friend campo557. The nice nurse looking after me bombed me out with a shot. Man that was good stuff - I lost 14 hours. Any how I do appreciate your fast response. zzack: Get used to it. The book might advise you of GM`s original intention on design but they might change the design because of cost or whatever.Very glad for the three or so nice guys who added other facts. This is what makes this board so valuable. Just hope that by the time I get my 2002 Yukon some of these good people are still around. Don434
