Auto Start by mrfish64

I have auto start and it is one of the best things in the world. The only problem is if you start the truck, than decide not to go out, and turn it off with the remote, the radio stays on. So, you have to open a door, then close to deactivate the radio or wait for battery to get low enough so power saver shuts it off. The other option is to turn the radio off before you get out. Not a big deal, but a slight pain in the ass if you run in and out a lot.

Those are the same part numbers that they put in mine awhile back. I was told by the service department that they were the same part number as the originals.
So far the second set hasn't failed.

Not possible to two-tone 2500? by dspangenberg

I've got a 2500LT Chev Suburban on order, Onyx Black. I want to do an aftermarket two tone after I got it. The dealer is telling me that is not going to be possible because GM has changed the type of wheel flares they place on some of the colors. It seems that the matte black ones are now a textured surface and are some type of plastic/rubber that can't be painted, or so he says. He says this change came about 60 days ago.

I'm told that some colors do come with painted wheel flares from the factory, as opposed to the matte black flares. I looked at some painted ones and they are the smooth plastic. I think he told me that white, gold, charcoal and green all come with factory painted flares on an LT package.
I really don't want any of those colors. I want Onyx black and I would like to two tone it.

Has anyone painted these new textured black flares?
Any comments/ideas welcome.

dsp: painting textured items by picklesorvie

The head of the paint department at the dealership where I trade has indicated that it is not a good idea to paint the textured items. That is why I ordered smooth handles to be painted for our 2000 Tahoe LS. Orville

My experience with the wrong bumper part tells it all. You can not paint that stuff. GM has paintable parts. It's just a pain to get them. Is there an issue with buying aftermarket?

Window Failures by _4u2candnv

Does anyone have a problem with either of the front windows. I have a 2000 Suburban. Both my rear windows failed back in July. Had the motors replaced (Don't recall numbers). Within 5 days, they both stopped working again. I figured it wouldn't do any good to bring it back it and have it fixed with bad motors so I decided to wait before taking it back it. Meanwhile, my front passenger window has now stopped working. I guess I use that window more than I thought because this one really bugs me. Looks like its going in Monday.

Has anyone installed a reverse senor on the tahoe? Either Ultrasonic or Sonar based. Which brand, pricing and where did you find it? I bumped into my bros minivan, luckily no damage on either car. thanks in advance.

Fog Lamp/Rear Wiper Problem by cwmartin

I heard back from the shop foreman at Northpoint Chevrolet about the problem with my Yukon and the rear wiper doing a quick engage/disengage whenever I turn on the fog lamps.

Unfortunately GM will not a let a Chevy Dealer do warranty repair work on a GMC Yukon, so I have to take the truck to a GMC dealer. The good part is that Northpoint Chevrolet did open a case number with the GM Dealer Technical Assistance center and they did give some things to look at about the problem.

The technical assistance center said to:
1)Reference Electrical Schematic 8-250
2)Clean Star Washer inside the mechanism
3)Check voltage drop on Pin Connection E

So now, I will find a GMC service center and give them this information and hope they can fix the problem.

Hope the information helps out other people with same problem. I will make another post if I find out more information.

I forgot to mention that I was told that there wasn't a TSB on this problem yet. It takes lots of cases to be filed with the Technical Assistance center to generate a TSB. So if you have this same problem, get your dealer to file a case with the Technical Assistance center, so eventually a TSB will be created.

brush/tail light guards by jdh8

does anyone (besides Ryan - thanks for the help Ryan) have any input on brush guards/tail light guards for a 2000 Yukon with cargo doors? I'm thinking about going with Waag's... what are the best prices people have been getting? I'm not sure if they even make a tail light guard that would fit on a truck with cargo doors.
