I`m very thankful for great guys like (subliminal)
since they have the product - all I can do is report what the year 2000 service manual says.


GM must have had a couple of "make it cheaper" experts redesign the good mirror design they had in the 1992`s. I can line that mirror up so that while siting normally behind the wheel I see the following. On the extreme right mirror surface I see only my rear bumper and vehicles behind me about a car length back. The rest of the mirror shows the adjacent lane to my left. The mirror will still adjust further to the left but I don`t need that much coverage to change lanes.
Had my brother drop by the local Chev. lot today. He looked at my mirror first - poped out the glass to see the adjustment and glass movement screws-and then surveyed the year 2000 models on the lot. They are nothing like my units. He could press on ether end - the mirror moved without any noise and he said that such little pressure was required that he doesn`t see how they stay in adjustment. Apparently they do though since no one has reported this problem (won`t hold adjustment). All we now have is a stupid design that won`t allow us to see the passing vehicles properly.Way to go GM.

andyl2, i have the poron on my 2Kyukon. The model I have "talks" to you at 8/5/3/1 ft and crash!
It cost me 300$ installed some 6 months ago. Has been great.

Very interesting trouble. Seem to remember looking at the two switch wiring schematics about a month or so ago. Couldn`t find a logical connection where : in operating the fog lights would cause a pulse to be connected to the wiper motor.
I think I see where the tech. center is going. Drawing 8-250 shows two items with a " Pin Connection E "
The Rear Wiper-Washer switch has two four position circuits. Switch position Pulse 1 has a direct connection to the wiper motor control module.Switch position Pulse 2 has a resistor in series going to the wiper motor control module.
Both the Pulse 1 and the Pulse 2 switches feed Pin connection "E".
If something is dumping a spike of energy onto Connection "E" this will tell the wiper control module to pulse once.
The Rear Wiper-Washer switch receives its battery feed through the RR Wiper - 15 Amp fuse.


Just for kicks Clifford could you remove this fuse long enough to turn on the fog lights and see if the wiper motor still pulses. Just interested


To confuse things a little - the Rear Window Wiper Module (located in the Lift-gate Panel) also
has a Pin Connection "E". This pin has a Black Wire - circuit 1450 - which goes to ground.Since under normal operation this ground is required to have proper wiper motion in all three modes of operation it would be good to do an ohm check to ground.


As you no doubt know a star washer has several sharp edges which normally dig into a metal or aluminum mounting. The term clean the star washer seems a little odd. I would make sure that the star washer is tightly held to ground and that it is not very rusted.
Hope to get out of this *#!%** bed in a couple of days. I wanted to send you a fax of the antennas but the fax unit is a stand alone in the basement office. Tried once to take the drip pack and the drain tubes with me but chickened out at the top of the Basement stairs. (Ran into secondary infections after donating the spare kidney.) If your still around for the 2002 Yukon / Tahoe shipments I hope to get one and will be very happy to run tests on my own toy.Thanks much for putting up with all my dumb questions. It has been a wonderful diversion for me.

It will be sometime this weekend before I will be able to try your fuse trick. Which fuse panel holds the fuse I should try to remove (under hood or under dash). I wrote my original message while at work today and still have not yet had a chance to look up the schematic in my service manual yet for myself.


I am taking next Thursday and Friday off from work, so I guess I will spend Thursday at a GMC dealer getting them to fix this problem, some brake squeaks, and to look to see if my Yukon is missing those rear wheel well plugs.

The other day I was early for an appointment so I waited in my 00 Yukon with engine and ignition off listening to the radio. It played for approximately 15 minutes, then turned itself off. Only did this one time, so I don't know if this is the norm or not.

The other morning while driving the kids to school i noticed the temp-direction display on the windshield mirror had every flourescent segment lit at the same time. Turning it off and on did not change it. When the kids got out 20 miles later, it started operating correctly and has been fine since. Last summer driving through Utah, the direction indicator went nuts for a couple of hours giving eronious direction and then fixed itself. Last month while near the Mexican boarder the word "rec" came on for a while. Im assuming this stands for recalibrate. Anyone else have these strange things happening with their inside mirrors? The Figmoman

I concur with #90, I too have experienced several times, the radio turns off after 15 minutes, when ignition is off and no doors have been opened. So, it should not run the battery down.

The fuse is located in the Engine Wiring Junction Block - not the Instrument Panel Block.
It is fuse #59 and is rated at 25 amperes on the fuse block page but on the wiring diagram it said 15 amp. Go figure.
Another item for me to feed back to the service manual troops.
I noticed that the fog lamp relay is just above and slightly to the left of this fuse. I thought that maybe the relay coil is inducing a pulse into the Wiper Fuse Wire but then I remembered that the open wiper switch blocks a conduction path. If a volt meter doesn`t find a improper voltage level I bet they will end up using a scope to look for the triggering pulse. Dam - I wish you lived in Maryland I would love to drop over and take some measurements with a scope.

   Reference your post # 86. Tomorrow, when it is light outside, I will center the mirror and then try to move the mirror manually to see if the rearward view can be shifted farther to the left.
    Must go to Tacoma tomorrow morning so it will be a while before I can report back.

I saw a link on one of the boards here that referred to an axle ratio chart that outlined the effect of different axle sizes, RPM's etc.
I thought I bookmarked it, but can't find it now...
Anyone?
