My 2007 GS350 gets 29mpg on the freeway doing 70-80mph but only 17-18mpg in town and on residential streets.

my '06 300 gs awd is getting a bit OVER 30 highway, if I accelerate gently and smoothly and use cruise at 65 as much as possible.

worst case stop and go around town is like 21.
Right now in a 70/30 mix of highway / city driving I'm doing 26.7 according to the trip computer. this is all with the A/C on almost all the time.

remarkably good for a 3700 lb awd luxury car that goes 0-60 in under 7 seconds.

Considering a 2003 GS300.. by srvivor87

- Hows the factory Lexus Navigation System, is it worth it?

- I read somewhere that you can play "DVD movies" on it's navigation screen on 02' and later models. Is that true, and if so does it work fine?

- Is it possible to replace the factory "CD changer" with the "CD/MP3/DVD Audio/Video" setup that comes on the current Lexus models?

-Thanks.

Previous generation certified GS430/300 questions by gouldn

Hello.

I made a big mistake and stopped by a Lexus dealer on the way home from work, and a 2004 GS430 caught my eye. Before long I had test driven the 04 gs430 and also an 05 gs300.

I was surprised at how easy, and yet still fun these big cars were to drive. They felt light on their feet despite their hefty weight, and I was really stunned by the comfort.

I like the idea of a certified <40K example to take advantage of the 3 year 100K warranty, and it seems to me that the 300 and 430 are not far apart in price. The 05 GS300 with about 32K was offered at $26K, and a 04 430 with about 45K was offered for 25K. Both had nav/mlev. My driving impressions were a bit surprising. I _almost_ felt that the 300 was a tad faster... maybe it was the gearing, maybe just a fresher example, but certainly I did not feel a gigantic difference like I expected between the 300 and 430. Both were very nice, and my research so far shows that the MPG is almost the same. What do you think, should I go for a 300 or a 430? I'll be trading in an 05 Accord v6 coupe. Also, what kind of deals could I expect on a 04-05 GS (either 430 or 300), with Nav and the MLEV stereo? Are people getting them for under 25k?

With gas at $4/plus you'll undoubtedly get a "better" deal on the V8, in the short term.....

Personally if I were in the market for a GS I would go for the later GS350 that has the V6 with DFI. 12:1 compression ratio yeilds better FE and more HP/torque over the GS300.

Remember save your money, do not get Lexus Nav system. Save $3000 for your next vacatio. Put in a $250.00 Garmin it is 10 times better and have fun on your vacation!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely disagree! I have used the Lexus NAV system in my last two Lexus's ('03 ES300, '07 ES350). I also own the lastest Garmin GPS units. The Garmin's are excellent, but not nearly as sophisticated as the built in units in my Lexus cars. I can't go into a point by point reason I say this, but I will definitely buy my new Lexus cars with built in NAV units!!!
