If they give you a hard time, then go to the parts department, and tell them you just bought a brand new Element, and you need a locking gas cap for it. It's the same part number as the Fit's (17680-SAA-G00).

Thanks,

Locking Gas Cap - Local Dealership by bluebell2

Spoke to the service manager at my local dealership. I told him that a locking gas cap is available for the Fit, even though the parts dept didn't believe this to be the case. I told him I orderded the part on line along with other accessories. He graciously offered to install the accessories I purchased when they arrive. A decent thing to do.

Got the armrest and assembled it. The bottom is plastic, looks to be pretty sturdy, and has lots of room inside. It's not adjustable (unless you take it apart first). But one big problem: it installs using double-sided adhesive tape, which was NOT included in the package. I wrote them of ocurse, but have not yet had an answer. Otherwise, I like it even though it won't flip up. It does have a built-in plastic cupholder that pulls out in the back, and it will hold CD jewel cases (probably around 6). There's also a front compartment inside, which looks good for small change, matches, small pocketknife, pack of gum, etc. etc. Now to see if they send me the tape so I can actually use it...

So the vendor said that they would not send tape, and screw the armrest in. But no screws are supplied, and you can't screw it in without remoovint the front seats. I bought some double-sided foam tape and installed the 2mrest. So far, so good. Still easy to snap the seat belts in, and use the handbrake and shift.

Footwell lighting by ilkirk

I know that this has been discussed (sort of) already, but I thought I'd bring it back up. In most of the preview for the Fit they mentioned a footwell lighting kit. However post release, all mention has disappeared and the kit doesn't seem to be available.

Now when I was initially looking at Civics a little while back I DID see the footwell lighting kit as an available accessory, so I did some digging.

At College Hills Honda, they list a "Courtesy Light" for the 2006 Civic Sedan/Coupe/Hybrid. (Part #08E10-SNA-110) Its pretty much what I imagined when I thought of the footwell lighting kit and I think the blue color would match the other light scheme well.

Does anyone have any guesses as to whether or not it might fit into the Fit? (Really, no pun... its just so tough!) Has anyone seen the footwell kit in a Jazz accessory list?

I checked out the Maggie rack but the Melrose is the one for me. Does drilling into the roof and mounting them on the car invalidate the warrantee? The Melrose is a "disappearing roof rack": http://www.toplinemfg.com/html/rck-melroserack.html

For those who bought the locking gas cap, how did you guys remove the old cap?? Did you guys simply cut the wire connecting the cap and the small door or using other method? Since I want to retain the old cap in case I want to put it back later for any reason, but I found it difficult to take that wire out... help please...

No cutting needed. Just push the pin out using a pen where the tether connects from (the gas lid).
